FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton Announces $40,000 Toy Drive Goal For Facebook FunRaiser Dealership Toy Drive To Benefit Toys For Tots, Backus Children’s Hospital and Salvation Army Claxton, GA November 30, 2010 – Demere Nesmith, Dealer Principal of NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton announced today that the company is launching a 15-day “Facebook FunRaiser - The Great Toy Giveaway” to benefit Toys For Tots, Backus Children’s Hospital, and Salvation Army. From December 1st to December 15th, NeSmith will donate a toy in honor of every new person that “likes” their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/nesmithchevroletclaxton. The goal is to donate more than 3,500 toys valued at $40,000.00 through the effort. NeSmith will host a celebratory event on Friday, December 17th from 11am to 2pm at the dealership located at 7334 Highway 280 West in Claxton to distribute the toys to each organization. Demere NeSmith created the Facebook Toy FunRaiser to give the community an opportunity to reach out and give toys to children in need this Christmas. “When we contacted these organizations, we discovered an overwhelming need for toys for children throughout Southeast Georgia,” said NeSmith. “We typically adopt families to support each year but decided to increase our commitment and serve as many children as we possibly could this year. We’re creating something here that everyone in the community can be a part of.” Toys For Tots collects toys for children across all local counties and needs thousands of toys to meet their current demand. Toys For Tots donations will be distributed in Ft. Stewart, Liberty, Long, Tattnall, Bulloch, Screven, Emanuel, Candler and Truetlen Counties. Backus Children’s Hospital needs toy donations for children receiving treatments including both admitted patients and outpatients. Salvation Army is also in need of thousands of toys serving Savannah and surrounding counties. Marion Platt, Commanding Officer of Salvation Army in Savannah said, “We have the most people that have signed up for gift support in many years. Any kind of relief makes a difference. We’re thrilled to participate in this FunRaiser and spread the word to raise as many toys as we can for these children in need.” The toys will be distributed to each organization during a celebratory event at the dealership in Claxton on December 17th from 11am to 2pm. NeSmith said, “We’ll grill out and serve everyone a hearty lunch and send them on their way with trucks filled with toys.” The NeSmith Chevrolet Facebook Toy FunRaiser takes place December 1st-15th.
